Many of us sometimes find the folder
options missing in windows explorer. Here's the solution
Open Run and then type "gpedit.msc".
Now goto User Configuration >
Administrative templates > Windows Component > Windows Explorer.
Click on Windows Explorer you will
find the 3rd option on the right side of screen "Removes the Folder Option menu item from theTools menu"Just check it,
if it is not configured then change
it to enable by double clicking on it and after applying again set it to not configured.

Making
Google the Default Search Engine in Internet Explorer
Open registry editor by going to
Start then Run and entering regeditand navigate to following three keys separately and change it as shown below:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\In
ternet Explorer\Main]"Search Page"=" http://www.google.com""Search Bar"=" http://www.google.com/ie"[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\In
ternet Explorer\SearchURL]""=" http://www.google.com/keyword/s"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\I
nternet Explorer\Search]"SearchAssistant"=" http://www.google.com/ie"
Removing
Shared Documents folder
From My Computer window Open registry
editor by going to Start then Run and entering Regedit.
Once in registry, navigate to key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \
Microsoft \ Windows \ Current Version \ Explorer \ My Computer \ Namespace \ Delegate Folders
You must see a sub-key named
{59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee}.
If you delete this key, you have
effectively removed the my shared documents folder.
Renaming
The Recycle Bin icon
To change the name of the Recycle
Bin desktop icon, click Start then goto Run, write Regedit and press Enter.
It opens Registry Editor. Now in
Registry Editor go to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/CLSID/{645FF040-5081-1
01B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
and change the name "Recycle Bin"
to whatever you want (don't type any quotes)
Disabling
Display of Drives in My Computer
This is yet another trick you can
play on your geek friend. To disable the display of local or networked drives when you click My Computer go to :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Now in the right pane create a new
DWORD item and name it NoDrives. Now modify it's value and set it to 3FFFFFF (Hexadecimal)
Now press F5 to refresh.
When you click on My Computer, no
drives will be shown. To enable display of drives in My Computer, simply delete this DWORD item.
It's .reg file is as follows: REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explore r] "NoDrives"=dword:03ffffff
Pop
a banner each time Windows Boots
To pop a banner which can contain
any message you want to display just before a user is going to log on, go to the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WinLogon
Now create a new string Value in the right pane named LegalNoticeCaption and enter the value that you want to see in the Menu
Bar.
Now create yet another new string
value and name it:
LegalNoticeText. Modify it and insert
the message you want to display each time Windows boots.
This can be effectively used to
display the company's private policy each time the user logs on to his NT box. It's .reg file would be: REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"LegalNoticeCaption"="Caption here."
2 ways to solve your problem....
1 - If you are able to login with other user account, just open Run command->Type
control userpasswords2 & Choose the admin account->click reset password & give the fresh password.
2 - This
is the method applicable when you are unable to enter into the system(i.e No other user accounts except admin):
1. Place
your Windows XP CD in your cd-rom and start your computer (it’s assumed here that your XP CD is bootable – as
it should be - and that you have your bios set to boot from CD)
2. Keep your eye on the screen messages for booting to
your cd Typically, it will be “Press any key to boot from cd”
3. Once you get in, the first screen will indicate
that Setup is inspecting your system and loading files.
4. When you get to the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER to
Setup Windows now
5. The Licensing Agreement comes next - Press F8 to accept it.
6. The next screen is the SeSetup screen
which gives you the option to do a Repair. It should read something like “If one of the following Windows XP installations
is damaged, Setup can try to repair it”Use the up and down arrow keys to select your XP installation (if you only have
one, it should already be selected) and press R to begin the Repair process.
7. Let the Repair run. Setup will now check
your disks and then start copying files which can take several minutes.
8. Shortly after the Copying Files stage, you will
be required to reboot. (this will happen automatically – you will see a progress bar stating “Your computer will
reboot in 15 seconds”
9. During the reboot, do not make the mistake of “pressing any key” to boot from
the CD again! Setup will resume automatically with the standard billboard screens and you will notice Installing Windows is
highlighted.
10. Keep your eye on the lower left hand side of the screen and when you see the Installing Devices progress
bar, press SHIFT + F10. This is the security hole! A command console will now open up giving you the potential for wide access
to your system.
11. At the prompt, type NUSRMGR.CPL and press Enter. Voila! You have just gained graphical access to your
User Accounts in the Control Panel.
12. Now simply pick the account you need to change and remove or change your password
as you prefer. If you want to log on without having to enter your new password, you can type control userpasswords2 at the
prompt and choose to log on without being asked for password. After you’ve made your changes close the windows, exit
the command box and continue on with the Repair (have your Product key handy).
13. Once the Repair is done, you will be
able to log on with your new password (or without a password if you chose not to use one or if you chose not to be asked for
a password). Your programs and personalized settings should remain intact
